Creating Your Own Unique Fashion Style: A Guide to Self-Expression

“Style is a simple way of saying complicated things” ~ Jean Cocteau

Overview

When first meeting someone, their clothes are the first thing you notice. Style is an unspoken way of telling who a person is. Creating your own style can be very difficult with so many options. Limiting those options can be easier than it seems, and it only takes a few steps.

Step 1 - Introspection

List your main personalities and goals. These are very important details that will help determine what type of style you want. For example, if you want to be a lawyer, you would probably want a business casual style, or if you like simple, clean things, you would enjoy a clean girl style.

Step 2 - Finding Inspiration

Once you have those listed, start to find styles that match the video of those goals or personalities. Then list the things those styles have in common. For example, if the styles you like have long black shirts or a skirt, list out that those are similar in that way.

Step 3 - Building style

Now that you have a list of common items of the styles you like, look for those or similar items. When you have all the items, you can try matching or setting outfits. If you opt for a more simple style, you can have a capsule wardrobe. Don’t forget accessories!

Conclusion

Overall, setting your own personal style can show people who you are and what your ambitions are. With a style that doesn’t relate to who you are, it can send the wrong signals to anyone. With these three steps, you can find your style and accessories that illustrate your goals and values.
